Happy Man's Quilt

Over summer I wanted to make Happy Man his own quilt. He didn't have a favorite something that could be made a theme (although now I know it would be balls), so I decided to go with a nautical theme in honor of our vacation. I ordered the fabric from fabric.com and love it! I'm so glad I was able to finish it in time to bring it with us to the beach. :-)

Not perfect, but made with love. And now I can add triangle quilts to my list of things I've tried!

The Susan Quilt

I was beyond excited when my friend asked me to make her a chevron quilt! It is so much fun making a product that fits the owner. Susan is fun, has a bold modern style, with a bit of colorful flare. She loved the Chevron quilt I made for a baby shower, and that's were it started. I think this quilt matches her personality style perfectly, and I'm so glad she loves it! The fabric is super soft, too!

My favorite part of the quilt is the light aqua binding. It matches perfectly with the same hint of the color in the back. I think it really makes the color pop!

Detailed info: The backing is Keepsake Calico - Ribbon. Size is approximately 45 inches wide by 60 inches long. I also learned how to print on fabric to make my first official tag! Check out Sew Many Ways' tutorial to make your own fabric label.

Twin Size Quilt

In an attempt help redo my niece's room, I am making them quilts. The oldest requested lime green and aqua. I also promised her to teacher her how to sew last summer, but I think that only got as far as a blanket or pillow case. What better way than to let her help with the quilts? She helped sew some of the blocks. When she was gone for a few weeks, I ended up finishing it for her. We went with a little LWPWSews inspiration - you should seriously go check out those amazing quilts!

This is the largest quilt I have ever sewn, and it somehow managed to all fit inside my little singer traditional sewing machine. I attempted to "eyeball" the diagonals, which are not perfect. Since it was so big, I decided to machine bind the quilt. That was tougher than I thought, but it made up for the week or so I'm sure I would be spending trying to hand bind.

After throwing it in the wash, there were no issues with the exception of some minor blue dye that rubbed on to some of the white. It could have been worse, and it's only in a few spots, so I'm not too worried about it.

The boys loved it whenever I would lay it out in the process, and they were thrilled to roll about the finished product.

And of course it, the new owner was very happy with the results, too.

Happy quilting!

At it again...

Officially addicted to quilting. After making three for others, his beauty is mine. After I put it all together, the aqua and yellow reminds me of Ikea. Oh well. It's a good thing I like Ikea. And the back makes me so happy!

The quilt is not perfect, but but I love it!
Bonus points if you can catch the mistake in the quilting pattern.

Another Baby Girl Quilt

Another teacher at work is expecting a baby girl this month. Her nursery colors are Raspberry coral, turquoise, and brown. In her classroom she has chevron curtains, and I figured what better way to incorporate those colors than a chevron quilt?

I also tried quilting closer and love the results!

Pink Quilt

A friend at work is expecting a baby girl pretty soon. Her nursery theme is pink and gray. Such lovely companions! Here's a quilt I made for her. This is my second quilt.

PS - I came across a pinterest blanket that had a similar look, but for the life of me I could not find it again! I wish I had pinned it!

And here is my little helper.

It is so hard to make a random pattern when you are a perfectionist and like things symmetrical. But, I love the result!

Do you quilt? Do you find it hard or easy to quilt random patterns?

Quilting

I have a very talented aunt and cousin on the in-law's side, and a friend that all quilt so beautifully. (Go check out her site LWPH Sews!) Their talent peer pressured myself to get up with the program and try it out. So, for Christmas I put on my list a rotary cutter, and I got one!

My first quilt was for the Little Man. He loves Monsters, Inc. What better inspiration for a nap quilt? I came across on Pinterest a link to Sing All you Want: The Arrow Tail Quilt Tutorial & Quilt-A-Long that I used as a rough guide.

Now, this was my first quilt EVER. I learned so much during the process, and it is still so easy! I finished it literally right before the Little Man's bedtime. Here are some pics snagged right before it went to use with lots of love and appreciation any boy toddler would give it. (Note, the one up-close was taken before binding. And sorry for the bad lighting.)

This project got me hooked to quilting. It looks like I have a new hobby!
